Orion Tulchin

Growing up in the foothills of Colorado my passion for the outdoors began at an early age. My interest in fitness stemmed from my active childhood which would lead me to starting strength training at the age of 13. At the time I would have never guessed that I was embarking on a life long journey that would eventually lead to owning a gym and helping more then 1000 people regain their health and fitness.

At 27 I started my professional career as a personal trainer at a big-box gym. Working my way through the ranks I grew incredibly disenfranchised with the “churn-and-burn, get no results” corporate gym business model. I desperately needed a change……

Inspired by the underground movements of training programs like CrossFit and Gym Jones, I was instantly drawn to their minimalist approach to functional fitness. I quickly realized my salvation was to start my own gym and in 2009 I opened CrossFit Lakewood and haven’t look back since.

Being healthy and fit takes a tremendous amount of hard work. If you believe in yourself and dedicate your time and energy to the program any goal is achievable!

Chrissy Tulchin

I’m a native to Colorado and lover of the outdoors. I love to hike, bike, camp, snowboard and exercise with my dog Oscar!
Coaching fitness has been my career for over a decade now. I’ve built my life around helping the average Joe/Jane discover their very own “golden mean” (or perfect balance) of how to accomplish goals and “find their fitness,” a phrase that is widely relative to every person I’ve ever spent time with. I been around long enough to have seen a lot of the ups and downs, the rises and falls, the crashes, the fads, the booms and the busts of the fitness industry.

I spent the first 6 years of my career working at and managing globo-gyms and their teams. I saw so many of my clients, members and employees hopping on and off bandwagon after bandwagon, sometimes with good results, many times with bad. It felt impossible to coach someone through the reality of their situation when they were so convinced that their magic pill, their incredible machine, or their video routine was the answer to all their fitness problems. I’ve been lucky enough to get to call “CrossFit Coach” my job title for a while now, and I have yet to find a program that has combated so many of the challenges and hurdles I used to face in both my own physical endeavors, as well as being a trainer in the fitness industry.

As a coach at CrossFit Lakewood my main goal is to impart knowledge, inspire people, set an example, and keep people’s “cant’s,” “wont’s,” and “I’ll never’s” at the door. I look forward to helping you experience it!

Hi, I’m Nate. I grew up in Minneapolis Minnesota. I played Hockey and Lacrosse in High School and continued my lacrosse carrier at the University of Minnesota Duluth where I was a 4 time All-Conference player, Academic All-American, and as Mid field Captain led my team to the MCLA Division I National tournament 3 years in a row. I also played post-collegiate lacrosse for USA West and gained the opportunity to travel to Japan to both compete and teach lacrosse. I have roughly 10 years of lacrosse coaching experience for all ages and have been coaching Crossfit since 2012.

In my spare time I love to get out into the mountains as much as possible whether it’s skiing and snowboarding in the winter or backpacking in the summer. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping people build a foundation of strength and confidence that can drive them to accomplish what they used to feel was impossible. I love the family here at Crossfit Lakewood and could’t imagine being anywhere else!

Christy Buffington

Hi my name is Christy aka C. Buff, and I have always been a thrill seeker looking for new adventures, which is why I left Texas, and moved to Colorado about ten years ago. I grew up running track and playing basketball and when I realized that my WNBA career was not going to happen for this 5’1 athlete I turned my competitive spirit to half marathons, trail runs, snowboarding and lifting weights at my local gym. I would go to the local globo gym and do the static movements we all know and love, but it was boring and I knew there had to be something else out there, and there was, Crossfit. I tried it at local box and was hooked. I quickly realized it improves my performance in everything I conquer outside of the gym which keeps me motivated and always keeps me working harder.

Crossfit continues to help me reach strengths that I never thought was possible, and I wanted to show others that there is nothing they cannot do and I knew through my passion for Crossfit I could do just that. Helping people reach their goals in and out of the gym is a fulfilling experience and I love every second of it.

Alida Sholl

My name is Alida – and I moved to Denver this year (2016) from Chicago. I’m loving the new scenery and am so glad to have found the great family at CrossFit Lakewood. Back in Chicago, I spent 7 years with the same CrossFit gym. First as an athlete in their new CF program, often taking the morning classes by myself, and then taking on Coaching responsibilities in 2011 as the gym grew. While coaching I loved the new challenge of not only continually learning new movements but also learning new ways of explaining them to a wide variety of athletes. Each day I worked with athletes of all levels, from the casual soccer moms and dads to local competitors. The biggest thrill was always seeing a movement “click” with someone because of a cue or correction I made.
Eventually I made the transition in my own training from being a CrossFit athlete to becoming a full time competitive olympic weightlifter. I trained with the Sayre Park Weightlifting Club under the coaching of former National Champion Mark Levell. I also took on coaching responsibilities at Sayre, helping Mark with the newer athletes and assisting many of the athletes at the meets we attended as a team. I found that the thrill I got from helping a group of athletes achieve meet PRs was much better than any feeling I had while competing myself.
As a Coach at CF Lakewood, I hope to help everyone find their inner athlete. I especially love helping people make the shift from thinking of working out as a way to be less (losing weight) to instead thinking of each day in the gym as a way to be more, whether it’s getting stronger, perfecting a new skill, or increasing your confidence in and out of the gym. When I’m not at the gym I work in the Animal Rescue field and love getting out to the mountains to do as much exploring as possible whether it’s on foot or on my snowboard.
